Vaccination schedule

Vaccination of horses is extremely important in maintaining the health of the horse. It is especially critical in young horses, horses in stressful situations, show horses and horses in boarding or training facilities that are exposed to many different contagins.

Recommended Vaccination Schedule
Spring:
  • Rhino/Flu/Tetanus/EEE/WEE (5 Way)
  • West Nile Virus
Summer:

Active Horses

  • Rhino
  • Intranasal Flu
Winter:
  • Strangles
  • Rabies
  • Rhino/Flu IM
Other vaccines
to consider:
  • IN Strangles (endemic areas)
  • Potomac horse fever (East Coast)
  • Botulism (Midwest and East)

Deworming schedule

Deworming of horses is critical to their good health. Parasites can lead to many health issues if not controlled. Below is the recommended wormers and the time of year to use each one.

  • Quest- for encysted strongyles
March:
  • Ivermectin
May:
  • Equimax or Ivermectin Gold
July:
  • Ivermectin
